Hoffman, Max (26 Sep 1896 – 20 Dec 1972)

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 23, 1977 at 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Dorchester for Max Hoffman, 76, who died at his home the previous Tuesday at 8:50 p.m. after an illness of several days. Pallbearers were John Greiner, Ray Boxrucker, Vernon White, Marlin Vircks, Art Meschefske and Russell Bell.

Max Hoffman was born September 26, 1896 at Sheboygan. He was married on June 4, 1919 to Rose Laack at Dorchester. They farmed in the Town of Mayville after their marriage. In 1949 he established Hoffman Feed Store at Stetsonville, which he owned and operated for 23 years. They moved into the village of Dorchester in 1962.

He is survived by his widow and two daughters, Mrs. Louis (Daila) Goldamer, and Mrs. Thomas (Ila Mae) La Fontaine, both of Wisconsin Rapids; three brothers, George, Abbotsford, Edmund, Colby, and Alfred, Tomahawk; two sisters, Mrs. Emil (Mary) Stasek, and Mrs. Joe (Margaret) Hiebsch, both of Owen; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, one sister, and one half-brother.
