One hundred four persons were present at the third annual Malchow family reunion Saturday, August 18, 1973, at Dorchester Recreational Park. Herbert Malchow served as master of ceremonies. Mrs. Lawrence Genrich and Mrs. Herbert Malchow were in charge of recreation, and Gay Graffunder provided music for dancing.

A new feature was a bulletin board with newspaper clipping; a Malchow family picture taken over 70 years ago; and death notices, weddings and engagements of the past year. Among the deaths in the family was Mrs. Louise Barker, Abbotsford, one of the ten children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Malchow Sr. The following also died: Mrs. Walter Malchow, Stevens Point, and John Sparhawk, Denver, Colorado. It was suggested that each family bring their bit of news to add to the bulletin board next year.

It was voted to have the family reunion next year at the same place and the same time, the third Saturday in August, beginning with a potluck dinner. Mr. and Mrs. James Malchow and family, Seattle, Washington, and Mr. and Mrs. Leland Malchow and family, Augusta Georgia, received prizes for coming the longest distance.
