McComb, George S. (20 Aug 1913 – 6 Jan 1978)

George S. McComb, age 64, of 312 Third Street in Owen, passed away on Friday, January 6, 1978 at 10:15 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

Services were held on Monday, January 9, 1978 at 1:30 p. m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee, with the Rev. Lloyd Yaggie officiating. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery. Maurina Funeral Home in Owen provided the services.

Mr. McComb was born on August 20, 1913 in Chicago. He received his education in Bellwood, Illinois, and lived in Maywood and Melrose Park, Illinois, where he was employed by Delaval Company. Later he worked for Douglas Aircraft as a flight engineer.

He was married to Beverly Worth on December 4, 1940 in Davenport, Iowa. They moved to the Town of Halley, near Chippewa Falls, where he operated a trucking business. In 1954 he returned to Chicago, where he was construction foreman until retirement and moving to Owen in 1971.

Survivors are his wife, three sons, Jack of Rolling Meadows, Illinois, Jim of Chicago, and Joel living at home; three daughters, Mrs. Michael (Ida) Grauman of Colby, Mrs. Wayne (June) –unreadable last name--, West Haven, Illinois, and Joan McComb, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Wayne (?) Houser of Oklahoma, and Mrs. Frank (Virginia) Ventre of Addison, Illinois; two brothers, Fredrick McComb of Alamo, New Mexico, and .. unreadable..

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
