Extension Homemakers (Scholarships - 1981)

Two Clark County students have been awarded $300 to further their education. Shirley Petranovich, daughter of Gen and Jim Petranovich, Thorp, won the Extension Homemakers scholarship. She will be a nursing student at District I Technical Institute in Eau Claire.

Steven Wilke, son of Irene and Frank Wilke, Loyal, won the 4-H and Extension scholarship. Steve will be a junior at UW-River Falls next fall, majoring in agriculture.

The two youth competed with 28 other Clark County students. The selection of the winners was based on their applications, recommendations and an essay on why they wanted to study in their education field.

The Extension Homemakers Scholarship alternate is Dorothy Pescinski, daugher of Rita and Ralph Pescinski, Spencer. The 4-H and Extension Scholarship alternate is Gloria Thoma, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Thoma, Neillsville.

Money for the scholarships are earned by Extension Homemakers at the Clark County Fair Dairy Bar and 4-H Leaders Federation through plat book sales.

Members of the 1981 Scholarship Committee were Norma Erickson, Neillsville; Maxine Potocnik, Withee; Virginia Meyer, Unity and Richard Vine, Granton.
