Four Junior High School contestants competing at the Owen Grade School last week
in the annual spelling bee were Linda Amacher, Steve Levenhagen, Brent Renick
and Jerry Wetzel. Linda Amacher, an eighth grader, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale
Amacher of Owen, was declared the champion and will compete in Augusta with
other winners from CESA.
Representing the Owen Grade School were Lori Bakke, Peter Groenewold, Mary Smoje
and Lis RoetgerThe alternate will be Lori Bakke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Bakke of rural Curtiss. Lori Bakke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bakke of
rural Curtiss, was alternate.
The contest was directed by John Briski and Sandy Fritz pronounced the words.
Both girls are to be congratulated, as well as all of those who competed.
