Hoeft, Edwin G. (1 Mar 1890 – 19 Jan 1974)

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church, Abbotsford, for Edwin G. Hoeft, 83, who died at his home Saturday, January 19, 1974. Rev. Kenneth Loehrke officiated at the service and interment was at the Abbotsford Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Harold Christensen, Noel Schelling, Dick Wagner, Jim Lamont, Glen Wickersham and Gus Krupke.

Mr. Hoeft was born March 1, 1890 in the town of Holton. He received his education in the town of Holton and attended the University of Wisconsin Dairy School. He was a private in the Army during World War I, and was wounded in France.
His marriage to the former myrtle Voight took place April 5, 1920, at Merrill. After their marriage he was a cheesemaker at the Hull-Holton Cheese Factory until 1934, after which he did carpenter work in the area until 1951.

He served as supervisor for Marathon County for two years, was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the VFW Knaack-Thompson Post at Abbotsford.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Clarence, Appleton; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth (Evelyn) Burmeister, Wauwatosa, and Mrs. Allen (Marion) Pudleiner, Watertown; 12 grandchildren; two brothers, Emil and Theodore Hoeft, Abbotsford, and a sister, Mrs. Herman (Elsie) Fitzlaff, town of Little Black.

A son, a brother and a sister preceded him in death.
