Schaefer, Charles H. (8 Dec 1897 – 10 May 1974)

Services were held for Charles H. Schaefer, 76, Monday, May 13, 1974 at 1:40 p.m. at the Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford, Rev. Roger Tellock officiating. Interment was made in the Abbotsford Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Howard, Kramer, Royal Archambo, Vern Steffen, Emil Daellenbach, Frank Geiger and Robert Hess.

Mr. Schaefer died at his home Friday, May 10, 1974 of an apparent heart attack.

He was born December 8, 1897 in Chicago, where he received his education. He had lived in Chicago until the age of 17, when he moved to Chili. His marriage to the former Lorna Keller took place October 14, 1922 at Waupun.

Mr. Schaefer was a veteran of the World War I Barracks, the Abbotsford Sportsman Club, Senior Citizens Club of Medford.

He lived in Abbotsford since 1928, was a baker at Abbotsford in the Adler Bakery, and was also owner and operator of Schaefer’s Café in 1932, now called Abby Café.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Gene (Etola) Lindau, Waterford, and Mrs. James (Rowene) Steffen, Brookfield; two sons, Norman, Huntsville, Alabama, and Charles F., Davenport, Iowa.; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Felix Schaefer, Dallas, Texas, and a sister, Mrs. Lucy Breseman, also of Dallas, Texas.
