Brill, Clara (30 May 1888 – 23 Mar 1977)

Officiating at the funeral services for Mrs. Clara Brill, age 88, Colby, was the Rev. David Havir of the Worldwide Church of God. Services were held Saturday, March 26, 1977 at Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford at 2 p.m. Burial followed in the Perkinstown Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Chester Pawlowicz, Bruce Pawlowicz, Henry Brill, David Brill, Richard Leiner and Tom Blattner.

Mrs. Brill passed away Wednesday, March 23.

The former Clara Tradewell was born in Waupun on May 30, 1888. She was raised in the Upper Michigan area, where she attended Marquette Teachers College. She married Steve Brill on September 13, 1913. He died December 18, 1949.

She taught school and farmed near Carney, Michigan until 1935, when they came to Perkinstown and farmed. Later they operated the Perkinstown Grocery Store until 1943, when they began operation of the Nightingale Tavern and Dance Hall until 1949. She then moved to Chicago, and in 1963 she moved to rural Owen, and later lived in Abbotsford and Colby.

Survivors include three sons, Steve, Wauconda, Illinois, George, Milwaukee, and Henry, Withee; three daughters, Mrs. Darrelle (Jayne) Denton, Henderson, Nevada, Mrs. Merye Dinse, Bullhead City, Arizona, and Mrs. Bruno (Clarice) Pawlowicz, Colby; 36 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, one son, one brother, one sister and two grandchildren preceded her in death.
