Nemitz, Arthur E. (5 August 1910 – 21 May 1983)

A former farmer and lumber company worker, Arthur E. Nemitz, 72, was pronounced dead on arrival Neillsville Memorial Hospital on early Saturday morning, May 21. Mr. Nemitz last made his home on Rt. 2 Neillsville.

The deceased was born on August 5, 1910, in the Town of Pine Valley to Frederick and Minnie (Wetzel) Nemitz. He received his education in Silver Crest School and in St. John’s parochial school in Neillsville. He then farmed with his parents until 1933 when he moved to Montana to work with his brother. On October 19, 1938, he married Margaret Bacon in Glendive, Montana, ceremonies.

The couple returned to Neillsville where they farmed in the Town of Pine Valley until 1967. From 1955 to 1967, he also worked for O&N Lumber Company of Neillsville. He then worked for Nelson Filter until retiring. He was a member of the St. John’s congregation.

Surviving him, besides his wife, is a son, Richard, Neillsville, a daughter, Mrs. Richard (JoAnn) Roycraft, Markesan; a sister, Mrs. Anna Noll, Neillsville; two brothers, Louis of New Auburn and Martin of Glendive, Montana, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother August, and a granddaughter.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, May 24, from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville with Vicar John Wolff officiating. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery; the Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
