On April 6, 1944, he entered the U.S. Army Signal Corps, serving in Europe and Africa and earning the rank of private first class. He was discharged on December 14, 1945.

After the service he continued to work on the farm until 1961 when he moved to Neillsville. He then continued his work in concrete construction until retiring. He was a member of St. Mary’s parish and the Neillsville American Legion Post.

Surviving him, besides his wife, are three sons, Gerald of Milwaukee, Ted, Jr., of Lewiston, Me., and Patrick of Woodland Hills, Ca.; and five daughters, Mrs. Virginia Nowak of Cudahy, Mrs. Doris Hautala of Morton Grove, Il., Mrs. Patrick (Gail) Glendenning of Rosholt, Mrs. Roselyn Weber of Marshfield and Mrs. Howard (Theresa) Olson of Neillsville. Joining them are two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Masson of Sarasota, Fl., and Mrs. Mary Jones of Petal, Miss.; two brothers, Raymond of Marshfield and Arthur of Neillsville; 24 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen; two brothers, Albert and Alphonse; and a sister Alvina.
