History of this Cemetery

It is understood that the bodies in Levis cemetery are soon to be moved to new grounds at the expense of the La Crosse Water Power Co. The work will probably be done under the direction of Peter Johnson whose experience and care in undertaking work make him a man to be trusted with such work.

Moving the bodies from the old French Cemetary (sic) in Levis began Wednesday under the direction of Peter Johnson. Some were taken to the new cemetery on the farm of Ole Johnson, other were moved to Neillsville Cemetery. The Power Company stood the expense of moving the bodies.
