Lee, Carrie (10 JAN 1867 - 14 JUN 1901)

Mrs. Carrie Lee, whose sickness was noted last week, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. H.C. Peters in Phillips Friday morning, June 14, 1901. No death in recent years has brought a more universal sorrow to a large circle of Neillsville people than that of Mrs. Lee. She never had an enemy in the world. Her kind ways and gentle, patient and cheerful disposition made friends of all who knew her. Especially was she loved among the children and young people, in whose plans and pleasures she took great interest. For years her health had been frail, and her relatives and friends had done all possible to save her strength and guard against any severe illness, well knowing that she could not probably survive a long sickness. She had gone to Phillips with her sister for a visit and was there taken with typhoid fever, which resulted in her death. The remains were brought to Neillsville, Clark County for burial, the funeral taking place from the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schuster, on Sunday afternoon, Rev. T. Grafton Owen officiating. Many were the tributes of flowers from old and young, the profusion of blossoms showing only too well, the love and sorrow of her friends, among whom she had spent most of her life.

She was born in the state of New York, Jan. 10, 1867, and came to this county with her parents when a child of six. Three years later the family moved to Neillsville, where she has ever since lived. She was married to Chas. E. Lee, Sept. 10, 1888, who survives her.
