Obit: Langford, Robert (1815 - 1901)
Source: CLARK COUNTY REPUBLICAN PRESS (Neillsville, Wis.) 10/24/1901 Langford, Robert (1815 - 17 OCT 1901) Robert Langford, father of Mrs. L.B. Ring, died at his home in Madison last Thursday, at the advanced age of eighty-six years. The funeral took place Saturday. His aged wife still survives him. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Ring and Mrs. R.W. Burton, wife of Prof. Burton, formerly principal of Neillsville, Clark County schools. For several weeks past his two daughters have been at his bedside caring for him as he grew weaker and weaker. Mr. Langford was an Englishman of the staunch but genial type. He is well remembered by many here, having a few years ago, with his wife spent a year with Mr. and Mrs. Ring. In his early manhood he was a steamboat captain, plying between London and New Castle, and later was engaged in contracting in connection with the coal trade. On coming to America he settled in Madison, where he went into business, and was an honored character in that city. |
