Surnames: BURNETT Source: CLARK COUNTY REPUBLICAN PRESS (Neillsville, Wis.) 12/12/1901 Burnett, Charles T. (FEB 1846 - 8 DEC 1901) Charles T. Burnett died at his home in this city at 1:30 Sunday morning, Dec. 8, 1901. He came home very sick a week previously from Madison, where for four months he had been employed in the capitol. For some time his health had not been good, but the diseased taking a turn for the worse he was obliged to give up his duties and return home, failing very rapidly till the end came. Mr. Burnett was born in Cheshire, Eng., in Feb. 1846. He came to Neillsville, Clark County twenty-one years ago, where he has since resided. He served three years in the army during the civil war, and made a good record as a soldier. He leaves a wife and six children. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the M.E. Church, Rev. A.V. Ingham officiating. Among those from abroad who attended the funeral were C.C. Bennett, S.S. Runnells and Mr. Allen of the Capitol force. Gov. La Follette sent a letter of sympathy to Mrs. Burnett, which was read to the friends by the clergyman. The G.A.R. and W.R.C. attended the funeral in a body, and a firing squad from Co. A accompanied and did the final military honors. |
