Harding, William (25 JAN 1821 – 4 APR 1903)

William Harding died at the home of his son-in-law A. Carpenter in the town of Fremont, Clark County April 4, 1903. He was born at St. Johns, New Brunswick, Jan. 25, 1821. He came to Wisconsin in 1846, and was one of the first pioneers on Yellow River, helping to hew the timbers for the first saw mill at Necedah. Oct. 4, 1855 he was married to Sarah B. Tarbox, who died Jan. 27, 1899. Surviving them are eight sons and two daughters. Mr. Harding enlisted early in the Civil War In Co. L. First Wis. Heavy Artillery, and served to the end of the war. He came to Clark County in 1873 and resided in the town of Fremont unitl his death.

The funeral was held April 6 at the Windfall Church, Rev. Malory of Stevens Point officiating. Burial took place in the Granton Cemetery.
