Obit: Foote, Charles (1835 - 1902)
Surnames: FOOTE ROSS KING AYER Source: CLARK COUNTY REPUBLICAN PRESS (Neillsville, Wis.) 03/20/1902 Foote, Charles (18 JUL 1835 - 17 MAR 1902) Monday evening, March 17, 1902, the sad intelligence was brought to the city that Charles Foote had died suddenly at this home in Pine Valley, Clark County. Mr. Foote was apparently in usual health and had gone to the barn to mile when he was taken suddenly sick and died before medical help, which was hastily summoned, could arrive. Charles Foote was born in Summersetshire, Eng., July 18, 1835, and came to the United States in 1852, and two years later he came to Neillsville. In 1861 he enlisted in the 14th Wis. Infantry and served until mustered out Oct. 9, 1865. In 1866 he was married to Maggie Ross of Pine Valley. His wife and five children survive him. The two sons, Frank and Oscar are at home. The daughters, Mrs. H.R. King, and Mrs. H.R. Ayer, reside at Grant Falls, Mont. though the former is at present at home on a visit. The youngest daughter, Miss Blanche is with her sister in Montana. Mr. Foote was a man of quiet and unassuming disposition, devoted to his home and family and highly respected by everyone who knew him. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge and the Church of England. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved family. The funeral will be held at the residence at 2 o'clock p.m. on Friday, Rev. G.W. Longenecker officiating. The funeral will be under the auspices of the I.O.O.F. |
