Meyer, Verna (8 APR 1935 - 7 JUL 2002)

DORCHESTER - Verna J. Meyer, 67, of Dorchester, Clark County, died Sunday, July 7, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Marshfield.

Services for Verna will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church. Father James Schaefer will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Shane Czarnezki, Marshall Staab, Travis Staab, Ashley Meyer, Jessie Meyer and Nicholas Meyer.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Maurina Funeral Home. There will be a Parish Council of Catholic Women Rosary Service at 4:30 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 7 p.m., both at the funeral home.

Verna Jean Jensen was born April 8, 1935, in the town of Mayville, Clark County, the daughter of Arthur and Margaret (Ulrich) Jensen. She was a graduate of Dorchester High School. Verna and Paul Meyer were married on June 17, 1953, at St. Louis Catholic Church.

A homemaker, Verna was a member of the Home Makers Club, the PCCW and St. Anne's Circle of St. Louis Catholic Church. Before her illness, Verna loved to golf, enjoyed fishing and belonged to the mixed couple bowling league. She enjoyed her garden and reaping the harvest. Verna was an especially loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Paul Meyer of Dorchester four daughters, Nadine (Thomas) Rohrick of Medford, Jeanine Staab of Medford, Gail (Fianc ) Doug Korhonen Meyer of Hurley and Julie (Michael) Smith of Las Vegas, Nev. three sons, Keith (Stacy) Meyer of Dorchester, Allen (Nancy) Meyer of Colby and Michael (Lori) Meyer of Fall Creek and 15 grandchildren. She is further survived by her seven sisters, Beulah (Melvin) Fischer of Dorchester, Charlene (Frank) Hundrieser of Rogers, Ark., Vera (Don) Thorson of Withee, Donna (Ted) Goessl of Marshfield, Marilyn (Roy) Meyer of Dorchester, Audrey (Jerry) Cypher of Medford and Sandy Jensen of Dousman and four brothers, Bruce (Vera) Jensen of Dorchester, Glen (Mary Beth) Jensen of Oconto Falls, Gene (Rosella) Jensen of Abbotsford and Dean "Jack" Jensen of Rexford, Mont.

Preceding her in death were her parents and an infant son, Daniel.
