Franz, 88, Land O'Lakes, died on Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at Howard Young Medical Center, Woodruff. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Monday, July 8, at Land O'Lakes Bible Church. The Rev. Larry Shetenhelm officiated. Burial was in Land O'Lakes Bible Church Cemetery. She was born on Nov. 2, 1913, in the town of Mead. After she married Oscar Franz, they owned and operated a meat-cutting business and farmed for many years in the Greenwood area. They moved to Land O'Lakes in 1969. She cooked for many years at Motel in the Woods, Boulder Junction. Her interests included crafting and crocheting. Survivors include one daughter, Violet J. Metzke, Land O'Lakes two sons, Floyd (Judy) Franz, Land O'Lakes, and Ronald (Sharon) Franz, Land O'Lakes nine grandchildren seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Selma Karnitz, Neillsville. Preceding her in death were her husband, Oscar, on Dec. 22, 1978 one brother, Oscar Miller and two sisters, Alma Carruthers and Laura Richmond. Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home, Eagle River, assisted the family with arrangements. |
