MacMillan, Evelyn (Marriage – 23 JUN 1909)

The marriage of Miss Evelyn MacMillan and Francis Charles Cutter of Schenectady, N.Y., took place at the home of the bride’s mother Mrs. Mary E. MacMillan last Wednesday evening at 8:30 o’clock. The ceremony was performed by Rev. H.C. Postlethwaite of Marshfield, brother-in-law of the groom, Mrs. Franklin B. Wing, sister of the bride, played the wedding march and Miss Ethel Ring sang “Beloved, It is Morn”. Miss Helen Marsh attended the bride and Roy Cutter acted as best man. The bride wore a white lingerie gown and veil, carrying a bouquet of white roses, lilies of the valley and maiden hair ferns. The bridesmaid was gowned in pink, carrying a bouquet of sweet peas and ferns. The house was prettily decorated with ferns, smilax, sweet peas and peonies.

Mr. and Mrs. Cutter left on the midnight train for Minneapolis and will go east later by boat on the Great Lakes. The out of town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Cutter, parents of the groom, Mrs. R.H. Cutter, his grandmother, Miss Celia Cutter and Roy Cutter, his sister and brother, all of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Johnston, St. Charles, Minn., Rev. and Mrs. Postlethwaite and daughter, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. F.B. Wing, Mrs. John Saxton, Abbotsford; Misses Helen Wright and Cornelia Moran, Baraboo; Mr. and Mrs. M.D. Garrison, Thorp.

The bride was born and brought up her (Neillsville, Clark County), graduated from high school and the Kindergarten Training School at Menomonie, since which she has taught with success. She has a keen intellect and vigorous common sense, a young lady of whom it may be said without flattery, that she possesses the most substantial sort of culture.

The groom is somewhat a stranger here, but is a young man of fine appearance and holds a responsible position with the locomotive works in Schenectady, N.Y. His family connections are the best of people, and in his occasional visits here has won the respect and good will of all those whom he has met. To him may well be offered the congratulations of all, and with him and his bonnie bride go the good wishes of everyone in Neillsville.
