Gaden, Peter (8 MAY 1859 – 7 APR 1910)

Peter Gaden, one of the best known residents of this locality, died April 7, 1910 at his home in this city (Neillsville, Clark County), after a short sickness; the cause of death being pneumonia. Mr. Gaden was born at Newberg, Washington, Co., Wis., May 8, 1859. He came to Clark County about thirty years ago. He was married to Lena Reitzel in Neillsville Dec. 11, 1883. For about nine years they lived here, Mr. Gaden being employed with his team at different jobs. They then moved to Lynn, where they ran the hotel for thirteen years, coming back to Neillsville they had charge of the Wasserburger boarding house a year. Returning to Lynn they remained about a year. On April 7, 1909, just a year before his death, he moved back to Neillsville and took possession of the Neillsville Hotel, which he had bought. Mr. Gaden was a man of good heart, truthful, upright and honest. Those who have known him since he was a boy, state that they never knew him to do a dishonest act. He was a member of the Krueger Verein and of the St. Joseph’s Society. Besides his wife he leaves one son William and a daughter Clara, and a little grandchild Genevieve. Also three brothers, William who lives here, Michael at West Bend, and another in South Dakota. The funeral was held Monday at the Catholic Church, Rev. A. Dorrenbach officiating. To the bereaved family and relatives is offered the sympathy of a large circle of friends.
