Obit: Kintzele, Effie E. (1863 – 1912)
Surnames: KINTZELE ALLEN PROSSER MILLER BEECHER LEE PIETENPOL Source: CLARK COUNTY REPUBLICAN & PRESS (Neillsville, Wis.) 10/03/1912 Kintzele, Effie E. (19 DEC 1863 – 24 SEP 1912) On Tuesday Sept. 24th, 1912, at 9:30 a.m. Effie E. Beloved wife of John P. Kintzele, passed away at her home in Romadka in the town of York, Clark County. She was 48 years, 9 months and 5 days old. Effie E. Allen was born in Dodge Co., Wis., Dec. 19th, 1863. Her parents, Harmon and Harriet Allen moved to Clark Co. when she was one year old, settling in the town of York, on what was known for years afterward as the Allen homestead, now owned and occupied by Walter Graves. Here Effie grew to womanhood, and on July 27, 1887 she was united in marriage to John P. Kintzele. She and her husband moved to their farm at Romadka, which has been their home ever since. For a number of years before her marriage she taught in the schools of Clark Co. She was the mother of four children, two sons and two daughters. The eldest, Frances Magdalen, died when 11 months old. Her husband and three children, J. Vernon, Mildred E. and Harland A. live to mourn the loss of a faithful wife and a devoted mother. Besides the members of her own family she leaves five sisters, viz. Mrs. Prosser and Mrs. Miller of the state of Washington, and Mrs. R.C. Beecher, Mrs. N.E. Lee and Mrs. H. Pietenpol of Granton, Wis. She was taken sick in June, 1910 and though at times seemingly hopeful of recovery, she was practically an invalid from then until death. She was a woman of more than ordinary intelligence, and essentially a home keeper. Through all of her long illness, although her body grew weaker, her mind was active, she continued till within a few hours of her death to manage and direct the affairs of her household, in a way that showed her interest in her family and their welfare. She was retiring in disposition, but the friends she made she kept. She was given to hospitality, and her relatives and friends will long remember the many pleasant gatherings at her home. Of her it could be said: “She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.” Proverbs 30, 27, 28. About eleven years ago, she became a member of the church of Christ, remaining a constant member till death. “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth, yea saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors for their works follow with them.” The funeral was held in the Adventist Church house, on Thursday afternoon, and was conducted by Wilson Mallory, minister of the Church of Christ. The funeral songs were: “Nearer My God to Thee,” “Beckoning Hands”, and “It is Well with My Soul.” (Granton News) Pictured above: The Kintzele Family about 1910, Effie, John, John Lynn, Vernon, Mildred, and Harland. |
