Flynn, Hazel (Marriage – 2 OCT 1912)

On Wednesday afternoon Oct. 2, 1912, the marriage of Mr. Guy C. Youmans and Miss Hazel Flynn took place at the home of the bride’s sister, Mrs. C.R. Sturdevant, Rev. W.T. Hendren of Greenwood officiating. The wedding was entirely a home affair, only near relatives being present. The rooms were prettily and tastily decorated in pink and white, the color scheme being extended to the tables at the wedding dinner. The bride and groom have both grown up and lived here all their lives, and have a very wide circle of sincere friends. Mr. Youmans has sustained, as a youth and a young man, many of the burdens of business life, and has shown himself to be a man of energy, character and real ability, meeting manfully and coping skillfully with the problems of life. The bride is the daughter of Jas. Flynn, the well known railroad engineer on this line. She graduated from the schools here and has taken a modest but helpful part in social affairs of Neillsville, Clark County. In the order of the Eastern Star, of which she is a member, she has a large group of most affectionate friends. The young couple began housekeeping at once at the Youmans farm, which will be their home.

We are scarcely satisfied to extend to this new household a mere formal wish of happiness. We have hopes for more than passive happiness for them; the solving of farm problems, the winning of good things from the soil; the creations of beautiful conditions in the home, and the combination of wholesome victories in the work of life with the intellectual pleasures that come from an intelligent study of the question of the day.
