Josephine Debevec

Josephine "Jo" M. Debevec, 78, Willard, died at Lakeview Manor, Weyauwega, on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 16, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. The Rev. Joseph Follmar officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Dave Reuter, Ron Thomas, Keith Mesiar, Nathan Tytor, Dave Thomas, Alan Debevec, Tony Debevec, LaVern Ulesich, and Chuck Debevec.

Josephine Mary Gutt was born on Dec. 4, 1925, in Chicago, to Michael and Mary (nee Gibas) Gutt. She was raised and educated in the Chicago area, and after completing her education, worked for Crane Plumbing, Chicago. She moved to Marshfield in the fall of 1946, where she worked Weinbrenner Shoe Company. She married Robert Debevec on Dec. 13, 1947, in Brookfield, Ill. They lived in Chicago until 1952, at which time they moved to Willard where they farmed and raised their family. While living at home, she had her own wedding cake and flower business, for which she was well known. She resided in Willard until entering Lakeview Manor in 2001. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church where she was very active in the CCW and taught catechism for many years, and the Merry Homemakers Club. Her interests included her pets, especially her dogs, arranging flowers, and bowling.

Survivors include her husband Bob, Willard; five daughters, Susan Debevec, Windsor, Conn., Sandra (Parks) Debevec-Hisey, Madison, Arlene Debevec, Marshfield, Marjorie (Dave) Debevec-Marksteiner, Marshfield, and Laura (Darrell) Debevec-Schultze, Willard; one son-in-law, Dan Oelhafen, Neillsville; 10 grandchildren, Sasha, Evan, Mica, sara, Stacy, Nathan, Valerie, Ronald, Dave, and April; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kaytlyn, and Jaelyn; two sisters, Ann Marie Green, Pleasant Ridge, and Julia Kulpa, Twin Lakes; one brother, Frank Gutt, Chicago; and one sister-in-law, Tillie Gutt, Berwyn, Ill.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Joanne Oelhafen; one son, Ronald Debevec; two brothers, John Gutt and Stanley Gutt; and three sisters, Molly Gutt, Helen Gutt, and Sophie Scott.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.

Josephine Mary Gutt was born Dec. 4, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Michael and Mary (nee Gibas) Gutt. She will be sadly missed by her husband Bob of Willard; five daughters, Susan Debevec, of Windsor, Conn., Sandra (Parks) Debevec-Hisey, of Madison, Arlene Debevec, of Marshfield, Marjorie (Dave) Debevec-Marksteiner, of Marshfield, and Laura (Darrell) Debevec-Schultze, of Willard; a son-in-law, Dan Oelhafen, of Neillsville; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ann Marie Green, Pleasant Ridge, Wis. and Julia Kulpa, of Twin Lakes; one brother, Frank Gutt, Chicago; and one sister-in-law, Tillie Gutt, Berwyn, Ill.
