BioA: Milligan, Mr./Mrs. Oliver (1921)
Surnames: MILLIGAN CASTNER LYONS Source: LOYAL TRIBUNE (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.) 05/26/1921 Milligan, Mr./Mrs. Oliver (21 MAY 1921) Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Milligan were invited to their daughter's, Mrs. Dan Caster, Saturday May 21st, 1921 to a chicken dinner. Imagine their surprise on arriving to find the yard full of cars and a goodly number of relatives and old friends gathered there to celebrate their golden wedding. And it truly was a chicken dinner and much more, there were all the good things people cook for such occasion. The bride's cake trimmed with gold was worthy of mention. Besides all these dainties to pleas the taste and the eye ice cream and fruit finished the menu. The rooms were tastefully decorated, the parlor in blue and gold, the dinning room in white and gold with a white bell. The floral decorations were white carnations, white daisies, pink roses, sweet peas, smilax and tulips. The bride and groom wore yellow tulips. Mr. Max Haslett told the company that he was a guest at the wedding 50 years ago in 1871, which was solemnized on the farm now owned by Clem Esselman, at that time the property of her father, Mr. Lyons. The guests from away were Mr. Foster, Mrs. Bushman, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Milligan and children of Stanley, Mr. and Mrs. Angela Lyons, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hewitt and Mr. Wildish of Neillsville. Walter Mack took a picture of the group. A wedding present of $30 was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Milligan to spend as they saw fit. The guests, after wishing them many returns of the day, departed felling it had been good to be there. |
