Dr. Carl F. Bachmann died quite suddenly at his home in this city Friday morning, Feb. 2, after only a few days illness. Although he had for some time had a complication of troubles that were of a serious nature, his death came unexpectedly to the public, as he had continued to attend to his practice until within a few daysof his death.

Carl F. Bachmann was born in Sacramento, Cal., Aug. 7, 1874, being the son of Carl F. Bachmann, Sr., and Margaret Claussen Bachmann. His early training was received in Sacramento and his higher education in Germany. Upon his return to his country he taught in the English department of one of the Pittsburg high schools. Later he studied pharmacy in the Pittsburg College of Pharmacy and became manager of a drug business in that city. In 1894 he taught chemistry at the University of Pittsburg. Soon after he went to Philadelphia to attend the Jefferson Medical College from which he graduated in 1896. In 1897 he went to Germany and took a post-graduate course in the University of Berlin. Coming back to Pittsburg, he practiced medicine there for two years. He then came west, locating at Athens, Marathon County, where he practiced his profession until 1905, when he came to Neillsville. Here he became associated with Dr. John Conroy in practice for a year, later taking over the entire practice with Dr. Conroy moved away. Dr. Bachmann’s long educational training had brought him into contact with men of renown in the scientific and medical world and made him familiar with many phases of research. He wad devoted to questions which involved deep study. He was a man who formed his conclusions from his own examination into questions and did not seek to conform his opinions to the ideas of those about him. He was absolutely honest and fearless in his decisions, not only in questions involving medical questions, but also on all the question of general affairs that came before him. He commanded the confidence of a large number of patients and will be greatly missed by many in this city and the surrounding country.
