George A. Borden

George A. Borden, age 85, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died on Sunday, March 21, at Genesis Medical Center West Campus following a brief illness.

George Albert Borden was born April 2, 1918 in Davenport, the son of George A. and Elizabeth (Travis) Borden. He was united in marriage to Jean Josephine Kuepper in Wis. in 1940. She preceded him in death on May 21, 1999. He then married Teresa Ortega Hall on June 13, 2001 in Bettendorf, Iowa.

He was a veteran of World War II, and served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines.

George retired in 1980 from John Deere Plow and Planter, Moline, Illinois. He had been employed as a Maintenance Welder for many years.

In earlier years George along with his first wife, Jean, enjoyed following their sons in their athletic endeavors. He also loved to spend time in the outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa, of Bettendolf, Iowa; sons and daughters-in-law, Bob (Jeri) Borden, of Davenport, Iowa, Ron (Judy) Borden, of Peoria, Ill., and David Borden, of Bettendorf, Iowa; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; a step-son, Mark Hall, of Bettendorf, Iowa; and additionally George is survived by his family, which originally included l3 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for George will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 25 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.
