At 11 o'clock Saturday forenoon, August 11, 1923, a pretty home wedding took place at the residence of Rev. and Mrs. G. W. Longenecker on the North Side in Neillsville, Clark County, Wis., when their daughter, Gladys Lillian and Mr. Ellis Eggelston Edwards of Milwaukee were united in marriage, the bride's father officiating at the ceremony. The groom's brother, Mr. Phil Edwards, was best man and Miss Louis Darst of Dayton, Ohio, a classmate of the bride when at Oberlin College, was bridesmaid. Before the ceremony the bride's brother, William Longenecker, sang a solo, "You and Love" by D'Hardelot. At the appointed hour the bridal party took their places before a bower of ferns and golden glow, Mrs. Ernest Longenecker playing the wedding march. Little Heath Edwards carried a basket of flowers. The rooms were decorated in yellow and white. The bride's dress was honey-dew georgette and Venetian lace over pink satin, and she carried a fan which is a family heirloom. The bridesmaid's dress was of orchid georgette.

Promptly at noon hour all sat down to a bountiful wedding dinner, the guests being relatives or close personal friends of the bride and groom, about twenty-five persons in all. After dinner the young couple left by auto for a trip among the lakes of northern Wisconsin.

The bride is the older daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Longenecker and has spent much of her life here in Neillsville. She graduated from high school at Provo, Utah, where her parents lived for a time. On their returning to Wisconsin, she taught school until entering Oberlin College, where she graduated in 1918 and since then she has taught successfully in high schools at Dodgeville and Watertown. She is a young lady of rare qualities of mind and heart.

The groom was brought up at Oberlin, Ohio, and graduated from Oberlin College, where he was prominent in athletics. He is a professional accountant and has a good position in Milwaukee with Briggs and Stratton. He is practically a stranger here, but is evidently a young man of ability and character. They will make their home in Milwaukee.

The guests from away who attended the wedding were the groom's mother, Mrs. Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Edwards and little son, Heath, and Miss Isabel Edwards, all of Milwaukee; Louse Darst of Dayton, Ohio; Harriet Long, Toledo, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Longenecker, Madison; William Longenecker, Black Earth, Wis. Miss Darst, Miss Long, Miss Edwards and the bride were all classmates at Oberlin College.
