Melvin “Herman” Kuehn, 66, Willard, died on Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 21, at Zion Lutheran Church, Granton. The Rev. John Trewyn officiated. Burial was in the Willard Cemetery.

Melvin Kenneth Kuehn was born on June 29, 1936, in rural Augusta, to Frank and Gertrude [nee Dehnke] Kuehn. He attended Russell Corner Country School and graduated from Augusta High School in 1955. After high school, he was employed as an accountant for the Dairy Maid Co-op Creamery, and for Jerry Randall Livestock, both in augusta. He managed the Augusta Credit Union and served on its board of directors. He also managed Osseo Finance. He married Mary Rintoul on Feb. 28, 1970, in St. Anthony Village, Minn. They lived in Augusta until moving to Rock Dam, where they owned and operated Bar 2. They moved to Willard in 1993 and opened Mel and Mary’s Bar. His interests included the outdoors, feeding birds, watching deer and promoting youth athletic activities.

Survivord include his wife, Mary, Willard; one son, Chris Kuehn, Osseo; two brothers, Charles [Arlene] Kuehn, Eau Claire, and Frank [Nathlie] Kuehn, Schofield; three sisters, Elaine [Harold] Krause, Eau Claire, Jane Baldwin, West Bend, and Grce [Jerome] Steinke, Opelika, Ala.; brother-in law and sisters-in law Wayne and Linda Rintoul, Gilroy, Calif., and Jo Ann Liedall, Ocala, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Harvey Kuehn; and one niece, Susan Kuehn.

Anderson Funeral Home, Augusta, assisted the family with arrangements.
