WALTER HOHL GIVEN SERVICE DISCHARGE

Greenwood Veteran Served with Army 44 Months

Greenwood--T/5 Walter Jacob Hohl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hohl, Greenwood received his discharge from service Dec. 29, 1945, at the separation center at Fort Sheridan, IL., and arrived here at his home.

He entered service at Fort Sheridan May 7, 1942, received his training at Fort Knox, KY., Cap Gordon, GA., and Fort Dix, NY and completed his training as an auto mechanic at Camp Gordon, Johnston, FL., leaving for overseas from Fort Jackson, NC, Jan. 18, 1944.

He arrived in Europe with the Service Company, 12th Infantry, Jan. 29, 1944, and served in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. On Oct. 23, 1945, he left Marseilles, France, and arrived in the United States Nov. 2, 1945.

The ex-serviceman was entitled to wear the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Expert Infantryman's Badge and the Victory Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, the Silver Battle Star, three overseas service service bars, service stripe, and Good Conduct Medal.
