Longenecker, Lois Joy (Marriage - 29 Aug. 1925)

A very pretty home wedding took place Saturday forenoon, Aug. 29, at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Geo. W. Longenecker, when their daughter Lois Joy was united in marriage with Mr. Ray Eugene Orr, the bride’s father performing the ceremony. Mr. John Roberts of West Been was best man, and Miss Dorothea Koepenick of Fond du Lac, room mate of the bride during her senior year at the University, was bridesmaid. Little Fern and Helen Aker, daughters of Rev. Aker, pastor of the Methodist Church at Colfax, were flower girls. The decorations were all in blue and gold, and green and white. There was a profusion of flowers in all the rooms. Miss Maurine Partch of Columbus sang, “Until” accompanied by Miss Mildred Elser of Beaver Dam, who also played Mendelssoln’s Wedding March. The bride wore white georgette with veil and orange blossoms, and carried a bouquet of pale pink roses. The bridesmaid wore blue embroidered net, and carried white flowers.

The bride is the younger daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Longenecker. She grew to womanhood here, graduated from Neillsville High School in the class of 1920, and after a year of successful teaching in the schools at Pittsville, she entered the State Universary where she graduated last June. She is a young lady of fine personality and intellectual and morel qualities. Her training at home and in the schools has well fitted her for a helpful place in any community and in a home of her own. The groom is also a graduate of our State University and is now pastor of the Methodist Church at Mount Hope, Grant County, Wisconsin, where he and his bride will make their home.

A bountiful wedding dinner was server after the ceremony and the bride and groom left by auto for a trip though northern Minnesota.

The guests from away were Miss Dorothea Koepenick of Fond du Lac, Mr. John Roberts of West Bend, Miss Maurine Partch of Columbus, Miss Mildred Elser of Beaver Dam, Rev. and Mrs. Aker and two daughters of Colfax, Mr and Mrs. Ellis Edwards of Wauwautosa and E. A. Longenecker of Beloit.
