Hiles, Anna (Marriage - 14 Oct. 1925)

Mr. Rollie Dietrich and Miss Anna Hiles were united in marriage Wednesday afternoon at 4 o’clock, Oct. 14, at the Maple Works Lutheran Church, Rev. Martens officiating. The groom was attended by his brother, Mr. Arnold Dietrich, and Miss Florence Bohnsack, a close friend of the bride, was bridesmaid. The bride wore a gown of blue brocade chenille with a georgette back-ground, with hat to match; the bridesmaid wore blue crepe de chine; both carried bouquets. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr and Mrs. Chas. Hiles in the town of Grant, and at six o’clock a bountiful wedding dinner was served, about sixty guests sitting down to the tables.

After supper a large charivari party arrived in autos, the gentlemanly captain coming to the door and asking Mr. Hiles permission to give the serenade; this was granted and the visitors made a lively time for a while until the groom, sent out a contribution which seemed fully acceptable and they departed.

The groom is the son of Mr and Mrs. John Dietrich of the town of Grant. He is an industrious and thrifty young farmer, and has lived all his life on the home farm. He is deservedly popular in the community. The bride’s parents, Mr and Mrs. Chas. Hiles, formerly lived near Christie, later moving to their present home in Grant. She attended country schools and later when not assisting in the household work at home, was employed in Milwaukee and in Neillsville. Her faithfulness, efficiency and kindly manner won for her the high esteem of all who know her. The young couple left on a wedding trip and on their return will make their home for the present with the groom’s parents until a house can be built on his own farm near by.
