Tow other grandsons, Chas. Tucker and Shirley Neis also unable to attend, sent gifts and flowers. Charles Shaw and Amanda Butterfield were married at Neillsville, April 15, 1876, and lived for a short time at the home of her father, Joseph Butterfield. Mr. Shaw had purchased eighty acres of land, and began clearing at once having four acres seeded to oats that spring. In the late summer he built a house on the land, and in September moved into his new home, which he has since developed into a beautiful farm. Four children were born to Mr and Mrs. Chas. Shaw, Linwood of Christie; Anna, Mrs. E. H. Tucker of Lodi; Mildred, Mrs. Albert Neis of Lodi; one child dying in infancy.
