JUNE BRINGS A BEVY OF BRIDES

On Saturday Senator and Mrs. W. L. Smith celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary and entertained about fifty guests at dinner at 6:30 o’clock. The celebration of their wedding anniversary was then made the occasion for announcing the marriage of their son, W. Lyman Smith to Miss Helen Churchill. The announcement was made by Rev. Rawson just before the guests were seated for the wedding dinner and the announcement came at a happy and appropriate time.

The marriage of Mr. Smith and Miss Churchill was performed on Saturday morning at Canon Falls, Minn., by Rev. Rawson. The bride and groom to-be, accompanied by Herbert Smith and Rev. Rawson, auto to Canon Falls on Friday and the wedding followed at 9 o’clock on Saturday morning. The wedding was very quiet one and was celebrated at the home of the bride’s sister and in the presence of the bride’s mother and brother and other immediate relatives. The attending couple was Mrs. Esther Krueger, a sister of the bride, and Herbert Smith, a brother of the groom. The bridal party drove immediately to Neillsville arriving here in time to join in the celebration of the wedding anniversary of the groom’s parents and also to make the announcement of their marriage at this most auspicious time.

The groom is the younger son of Senator and Mrs. Smith and is now engaged in the telephone business with his father and brother, he having the management of the office work of the Badger State Telephone and Telegraph Co. He is a graduate of the Neillsville schools and also attended the state university for one year, preparatory to engaging in the telephone business. He is one of the type of fine young men who are now growing up in Neillsville and on whom the city will soon commence to depend for their business activities. His bride is has been a teacher in the city schools for the past two years, being a resident of Rock Elm, Wis., She is a young lady of most pleasing personality and during her residence her has generally endeared herself in the high esteem of all who know her.

With the announcement of a double wedding celebration, the guests of Mr and Mrs. Smith improved the opportunity of fully enjoying the hospitality of their host and hostess and wishing the newly weds long years of contentment and happiness.

Those who were here for the wedding were Dr. and Mrs. Clark of Eau Claire and Mr and Mrs. George Huntzicker and son of Marshfield. Mr and Mrs. Smith Jr., left on Sunday for their wedding trip to Chicago and other points.
