Drake, Beatrice (Marriage - 26 July 1926)

The marriage of Miss Beatrice Drake of Granton and Russell W. Smith of Waupaca took place at 8:30 p.m. Monday July 26, at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr and Mrs. Walter Drake. The Rev. Wilson Mallory, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiated.

The room was decorated in green and white with large white wedding bells and bouquets of pink roses and ferns. The bride wore a gown of ashes of roses silk georgette crepe trimmed with gold lace. She was attended by Miss Vivian Drake, a sister of the bride, who wore a pale pink silk canton crepe gown. A close friend of the groom, Mr. Earl French of Waupaca acted as best man. About thirty-five intimate friends and relatives witnessed the ceremony and attended the wedding supper which took place immediately after the ceremony.

Mr and Mrs. Smith left for the Dells Wednesday on their wedding trip and they will be at home to their many friends after August 1, at Lake Crosson, Waupaca.

Those from away who attended were Mr and Mrs. Oscar Smith, parents of the groom and his brother Everet and Earl French all of Waupaca.

The bride is an accomplished young lady and a favorite among all her associates. She has been in Waupaca for the past six month where she has employment.

The groom is highly respected young man who assists on his father’s farm during the summer months and is manager of a factory in Milwaukee.

The many friends of the bride and groom extend congratulations and best wishes.
