Buelow, Ferdinand (6 MAR 1857 - 10 JUL 1929)

Ferdinand Buelow, one of the older residents of this locality, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Sollberger Jr., in the town of Hewett, at 8 o'clock Wednesday morning, July 10th, 1929, aged 72 years, 4 months and 4 days. About three years ago Mr. Buelow's health began to fail, a condition of anemia developing, which hospital treatment seemed for a time to relieve, but the progress of the disease continued, undermining his strength.

Mr. Buelow was born at Montreal, Canada, and grew to manhood there on a farm. His parents moved to Sauk Co., Wis. and he with them, when still a young man. In 1907 he moved to Clark County near Humbird, and in 1911 came to Neillsville, and for two years carried on the Hamilton Hotel. From there he moved to the farm of Judge O'Neill in the town of Hewett and had charge of this farm for ten years. He then moved to the Wm. West farm in the town of Grant, operating this farm for two years. After his health began to fail he and his wife went to live with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Sollberger Jr., where he died. Mr. Buelow was a good farmer, a man of Upright principles, and a good citizen in every way.

He is survived by his wife and six children: Richard of Ingleside, Ill.; Caroline, Mrs. Wm. Eschenbach of Merrimac, Wis.; Kate, Mrs. Hugh Van Horn of Humbird; Emma, Mrs. John Sollberger of Columbia; and Lillie, Mrs. Hollie Moffatt of Clinton. He leaves also two sisters, Mrs. Charles Neuman of Osseo and Mrs. Louis Howlett of Oshkosh.

The funeral was held at Columbia Chapel after a brief service at the Sollberger home, Saturday afternoon, Rev. Motzkus officiating. Burial took place in Neillsville Cemetery.
