DEATH CLAIMS YOUNG MAN AFTER ILLNESS OF WEEK

This entire community was saddened Wednesday morning by the announcement that Marion Bradbury, youngest son of Dr. and Mrs. E. L. Bradbury, had died a little after midnight, after only a week’s illness from pneumonia. Although he had been sick but a short time, the disease had almost from the first assumed a most serious form a host a friends of the young man anxiously watched each day for some favorable turn in his condition. His father and his brother, Dr. Warren Bradbury, were with him almost constantly assisted by a nurse and local physicians, and the best care and most modern treatment were given him but his strength was not sufficient to carry him over the crisis which came a short time before he passed away.

Marion was 21 years old on the 14th of last August. He was born in Neillsville, passed through the grade and graduated from Neillsville high school in the class of 1926. He attended Ripon College two years and the University of Minnesota for a time. Both in high school and at college he was a favorite among the students, talking a prominent part in athletics and other school activities. In high school he was treasurer of his class in his freshman year and president during the third and fourth year. At college he was an active member of a fraternity.

This year he ??ad been at home, being employed at the canning factory part of the time. He was apparently in the finest physical condition and was considered the leading player on the Service Company basketball team.

Marion had a peculiarly pleasant and charming disposition. The youngest of the family he was known as “Babe” to all his companions; in the home he was buoyant and cheerful. In all the years from childhood up he is said never to have uttered an unpleasant word nor given even a disagreeable look to those about him in the home. His death just at the portals of young manhood seems a real disaster in the home and to the community, and only time can heal the grief that has come to all who knew him and especially to those to whom he was nearest and dearest.

Besides his parents he leaves three brothers: Dr. Warren Bradbury of St. Paul; Wendell Bradbury in Philadelphia and Louis who is now at home.

The funeral will be held at home Friday afternoon.
