On Friday, Feb. 21, Fisk Lee, on of Clark County’s pioneers, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Howard Erwin in Milwaukee, where Mr and Mrs. Lee had been in poor health for some time and had not been able to do any farm work for several years.

Timothy Fisk Lee was born near Potsdam, St. Lawrence County, New York, June 23, 1854, and had reached the age of 75 years, 7 months and 8 days. He grew up on the home farm, renting the farm after his marriage and carrying it on himself. He was married Jan. 29, 1874 to Mary J. Wright at Potsdam, New York. In 1878 they came to Clark County, some of their relatives having preceded them and settled near “The Windfall” not far from the present site of Granton. Mr and Mrs. Lee soon after their arrival bought a tract of wild land --- a part of their present farm in the town of Fremont, and there began to open up a farm in the wilderness. It was heavily timbered and there was no road to the place until Mr. Lee and his neighbors cut out a trail through the woods. As the years passed the clearing was enlarged, more land was purchased, and modern buildings put up.

Mr. Lee was among the first in his community to raise purebred cattle, horses, hogs and sheep. He was very found of livestock and always took great interest in the county fairs never failing to attend and for many years making many entries at the fairs. Mr. Lee took an active part in community and town affairs and was held in much esteem by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, four sons and one daughter: Ara and Ernest of the town of Fremont; Dale in the town of York; Vinton in Grant, and Ruth, Mrs. Howard Erwin in Milwaukee. He leaves also 11 grandchildren.

The funeral was held at the old home in Fremont on Tuesday, Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating. Six nephews -- Truman Davis, Frank Davis, Roy Wright, Price Lee, Bernard Pietenpol and Frederick Pietenpol acted as pall bearers.
