Surnames: BACKHAUS STEUERWALD Source: LOYAL TRIBUNE (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.) 04/12/1923 Backhaus, Viola (2 APR 1923) (Daily Commonwealth) The marriage of Miss Vila Backhaus of Elmore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto J. Backhaus, to Walter Steuerwald of Plymouth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Steuerwald, took place at the bride's home at 12 o'clock Monday noon, April 2nd, 1923, the ceremony being performed by the Rev. H. K. Hartman. The couple was unattended. The bride's gown was of white satin and Spanish lace, trimmed with pearls, and she wore a bridal veil in fan cap effect. Her flowers were roses and lilies of the valley. The wedding dinner was served immediately after the ceremony to a company of twenty-five friends. The decorations were gold and white crepe paper, wedding bells and flowers. The couple will reside at Plymouth where the groom is engaged in farming, and will be at home to their friends after April 15. The bride is a popular young woman of Elmore, where she has a wife circle of friends. The groom is an ex-soldier, serving during the World War, most of that service being in Cuba. Guests from away who attended the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Steuerwald of Plymouth, and Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Ehrat of Milwaukee. |
