Richard Zerbel and wife are spending the week with relatives in Buffalo county. Miss Ila Washburn spent part of the week at the home of her brother in Augusta. Henry Lang, of Rice Lake, visited at the home of his son Louis the last of the week and first of this. Mrs. John Schmid was seriously ill the fore part of the week, gall stones being the cause of the trouble.

The Alumni Banquet The meeting of the Humbird high school alumni association, held at the town hall last Tuesday evening, was one of the most successful events ever experienced by the association. The meeting was well attended by local members, also many from a distance were in evidence. Promptly at 8:30, the president. C. B. Fristad, called the meeting to order and delivered a very fine address of welcome to the members and concluded his remarks by introduction the toastmistress, Miss Eda Gansel. She proved a very amiable and capable mistress and her abundance of wit kept the members in good humor throughout the evening. The letters from the absent members read by Secretary A. F. Hahn proved to be very interesting and showed that those who must be absent were present in spirit. The different selections as rendered by the members were well chosen, and received with much interest. The officers fell much elated over this success and have placed their hopes on many more happy events similar to this in the years to come. The members of the association desire to extend a vote of thanks to those who have so willingly assisted us in making out meeting a success by providing us with furniture, decoration, eatables and in fact everything which the committee of arrangements requested. We have been assured in this matter that our association receives the support of the community, which is very much appreciated by us. Members present at the meeting were: C. A. Colburn, Mattie Rice Colbern, ’89, Bertha M. Stallard, Mable Hart, ’93, Eda A. Gansel, Carrie L. Horrell, ’95, Roy Creviston, “96, Edith A. Simons, ’98, Charles W. Hart, Anna Perry, ’99; W. E.
