Surname: Raether, Gress, Youdtland, Hagedorn, Rickert Source: Neillsville Press (Neillsville, Clark County, Wis.) Sept. 18, 1930 Raether, Viva (Marriage - 12 Sept. 1930) Mr. Arthur Gress and Miss Viva Raether were united in marriage at 10 o’clock a.m. Friday, September 12, in Grace Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, Rev. Youdtland officiating. Miss Gertrude Gress of Neillsville was bridesmaid and Mr. Herman Hagedorn of Globe was best man. The bride wore a beautiful gown of white georgette, a rhinestone bandeau of her hair, and carried a bouquet of white roses and baby’s-breath. Miss Gress wore yellow georgette and carried pink roses. The groom and best man wore brown suits. After the ceremony a wedding dinner and reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, the guests all being relatives and close friends; among them were the groom’s grandmother, Mrs. Jennie Gress and Mrs. Geo. Rickert, who drove down from Minneapolis. Many beautiful and useful gifts were presented to the bride and groom. The groom is the son of Mr and Mrs. Sherman Gress. He was born and grew to manhood at the farm home near Neillsville. He attended Neillsville schools, taking a course in high school. For the past two year she had been employed by Ted Schlinkert in Paulson’s Garage. He is an industrious young man, a good mechanic and highly esteemed by all who know him. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Raether, formerly of the town of Levis and now living near Eau Claire. She finished the rural schools, three years in Neillsville high school and completed the course in Eau Claire high school. She is a young lady of fine personality and was popular with the young people here. The young couple gave a wedding dance at Riverside Pavilion Saturday night which was largely attended. They left on an auto trip to Winona, Milwaukee, the Dells and other places of interest. On their return they will begin housekeeping in rooms at Mrs. Weast’s house, on the corner of Grand Avenue and Eighth Street. The Press joins their many friends in wishing them a happy and prosperous life.
