Gehrke, Russell Albert (2/19/1918 - Dec 1941)

West Fremont--Funeral services were conducted today at Granton and Hancock for Russell Albert Gehrke, 23-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gehrke, Town of Fremont, who died at 10:30 o'clock Friday night at the Neillsville Hospital, where he had been taken that morning for medical treatment for dropsy. He had been in poor health since birth, due to a heart ailment.

The Rev. Leo Chapman of the Gospel Hall at Spokesville had charge of the 10:30 o'clock services this morning at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Granton, where the body had been lying in state. From here the body was taken to Hancock for services at 2 o'clock, followed by interment in the family lot there.

Pallbearers at the Granton rites were Harold and Walter Hillert, Geral Neilson, Leo and Carl Roehl, and Eldon Schmidtke.

Surviving besides his parents are six brothers, Lewis of Withee, Paul of Nekoosa, Donald and Alfred of Hancock, and Julius and Allen at home, and two sister, Mrs. Alvin (Margaret) Holmes, Plainfield, and Mrs. Juilian (Grace) Boyles, Hancock. Two sisters preceded him in death.

Russell, who was born Feb 19, 1918, in the town of Hixon, Clark County, had lived with his parents in Hancock before moving to the Town of Fremont two years ago.
