(March 9, 1860-1940) Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Gilbertson Funeral Home and the Adventist Church for Henry J. Pietenpol, 80, who died suddenly Friday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harriet Berg, at Schofield. The Rev. G.W. Longenecker conducted the rites, and burial was made in Windfall cemetery. Among those who attended the rites were Mr. and Mrs. William Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Love, and Mr. and Mrs. John Salzer and son, Edward, and daughter, Judy, Wausau; Dr. and Mrs. Schwarz, Humbird; Leitha Pietenpol, New Lisbon; Mrs. Hattie Berg and son, Robert, and daughter, Marise, Schofield; and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hallock, Chili. Henry John Pietenpol, the third in a family of eight children, was born in Gibbsville, March 9, 1860. He came to Clark County in 1893 as a carpenter, building many barns and other structures in this vicinity. His marriage to Rebecca Allen took place Nov. 17, 1886, the Rev. W.G. Hendren officiating at the nuptials. Since they were married, Mr. and Mrs. Pietenpol had made their home on the present Pietenpol farm, north of Granton. Mr. Pietenpol, a member of the Town Board of the Town of York, served on the School Board, and was active in many village affairs. he retired from farming 11 years ago, at which time his son, Henry, purchased the farm. Surviving are four children, Floyd Pietenpol and Mrs. Vera Kidd, both of Granton; Mrs. Harriet Berg, Schofield; and Mrs. John (Beatrice) Salzer, Wausau; 11 grandchildren; and two brothers, John, who resides on a farm west of Granton, and William, Sheboygan County. He was preceded in death by his wife on July 10, 1940, by a brother...remaining is cut-off. |
