Pieper, Arnold August (17 April 1907 - 16 Jan. 1998)

Arnold A. Pieper, age 90, of Loyal, died at Colonial House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, in Colby, on Friday, Jan. 16, 1998 at 3:30 p.m. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal. The Rev. Daniel E. Zimmerman officiated and burial was in the Loyal Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was held at Rinka Funeral Home, in Loyal, on Monday, Jan. 19, 1998 from 4-9 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Pallbearers were Bill Olsen, Mike Rueth, Dean Pieper, Dennis Pieper, and Steven Lauenstein.

Arnold August Pieper was born on April 17, 1907 in the Town of Beaver, Clark County, Wis., to August and Minnie (nee Nagel) Pieper. He was raised on the family farm and educated at the East Beaver County school. He married Alma A. Otto on Jan. 10, 1928. They lived and worked on his family’s farm. He took over the farm after the death of his father in 1950. His wife died on Jan. 19, 1970. He retired in 1973 and moved into Loyal. He lived in Loyal until entering the nursing home in July 1992. He resided there until the time of his death. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by three daughters, Beverly (Art) Olsen of Loyal, Marlene Lauenstein of Aurora, Colo., and Karen (Dave) Fricke of Loyal; 23 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 2 son-in-laws, Jim Helm and Larry Rueth, both of Loyal; and one daughter-in-law, Darlene Pieper of Loyal.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, daughters: Delores Helm and Joyce Rueth; a son Delmar Pieper, brothers Bernard and Reinhardt Pieper, and sisters: Lorna Fohrman and Alma Breseman.
