------Keller, Herbert Helmuth (6 March 1910 - 18 Oct. 1998)

Herb Keller, age 88, of Neillsville, Wis., died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998 at the Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville.

Herbert Helmuth Keller was born on March 6, 1910 in Princeton, Wis. The son of Frank and Mary Keller. When Herb was young his family moved to Neillsville, where he graduated from High School. After graduation, Herb helped to build the Silver Done, which his mother and father owned. He was united in marriage to Velma Seidelman on June 18, 1936 in Neillsville. He then helped his family in the operation of the Dome before he eventually became a custodian at the Clark County Courthouse, where he worked for many years. One of Herb’s hobbies was music and for over 40 years he placed saxophone and clarinet for the Howie Sturtz orchestra. Another of his hobbies was custom case work, in-which he would build cases for irregularly shaped guns and instruments.

He is survived by his wife, Velma; three son, Larry (Bonnie) Keller of Neillsville, Jim (Trish) Keller of Eau Claire, Wis., and Ken (Pat) Keller of Bloomington, Minn.; one daughter, Shirley (Bob) Simonson of Greenville, Wis., nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; his parents; six brother and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville. Pastor Gene Lackore will officiate. Music will be provided by Deon Spangler, organist. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the Gesche Funeral Home on Grand Ave., and from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday at the United Church of Christ.

Honorary Casket Bearer is E. J. Steiger.

Casket Bearers are: Eugene Bieneck, Christopher Keller, David Keller, Robert Keller, Eric Simonson and Howard Sturtz II.
