Obit: Head, Charles (1876 - 1909)
Surnames: HEAD BEGLEY HOSTRAWSER BRINKMAN -----Source: HUMBIRD ENTERPRISE (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) 12/25/1909 ----- Head, Charles (1876 - 19 DEC 1909) Last Sunday the community (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) was startled by the news of the sudden death of Charles Head at his home near the Catholic Church. Death resulted from heart failure following an attack of diphtheria, from which he had about recovered. The remains were buried the same day in the Mentor Cemetery. When Charles was taken sick his brother Frank was called to care for him and look after things on the farm. He, too, contracted the disease, before the death of Charles. On Tuesday he was in a very serious condition and the doctor went to the home prepared to remain during the night. At about ten o'clock death came suddenly the same as it had to his brother Charles. The body was buried on Wednesday in the Mentor Cemetery, the funeral being private on account of the contagious nature of the disease. On Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock funeral services will be held at the M. E. Church, conducted by the Modern Woodmen, of which order both brothers were members. An obituary will be published next week. The sympathy of all is with the bereaved ones in this double affliction. (Follow on in 1/1/1910 Humbird Enterprise) Charles Herbert Head was born Sept. 11, 1876, at Pine Hill, Jackson Co., Wis., and died at his home in Fairview, Dec. 19, 1909. He had been twice married, his first wife living less than three years. One son was born to them, who was soon called to join his mother. Two years ago he was married to his present wife. The young men were the only sons of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Head, and their lifelong home has been on the farm two miles northeast of Humbird, where they were well and favorably known. Besides their parents they leave one sister, Mrs. Bertha Begley of the town of York, two aunts, Mrs. J. J. Brinkman of Seymour, and Mrs. Edwin Hostrawser of Alma Center. |
