MARCH 16--John Kelloher returned to his former home near Portage, Wis., last Thursday.

Len Hutchins Jr. moved in with his father, Len Hutchins Sr. Last week.

Chris. Hovelson has sold his property on Depot street to M. Eliason and talks of returning to North Dakota from whence he came about two years ago.

Professor T. H. Barber closed the winter term of school at this place last Friday.

Finding that history and public opinion are both on the side of the Veterans, the Courier correspondent and his friends are beating as hasty a retreat as circumstances will permit. And the "gunny sack" flag will soon be trailed in the dust.

The Ladies' Aid Society will hold their regular semi-monthly meeting at the residence of J. O. Warner on Wednesday evening of the present week.

Joseph Flory's people are receiving a visit from Mr. Flory's nephew, Joseph Flory, of Watertown, New York. The latter is accompanied by a friend, whose name we failed to learn.

A rumor is in circulation that Nye, Lusk and Hudson will ship their entire stock of logs in the Thorp yards, to this place, the reason given therefore being "that it is cheaper to transfer the logs, than to repair the Thorp mill." If the rumor proves true, the Eidsvold mill will be running the entire season.

Lucinda Warner of this place, and Roy B. Brown of Reseburg, were married at Thorp on Wednesday, March 7, Rev. J. B. Bachman performing the ceremony. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Warner and one of the leading school teachers of the county, having been continuously engaged in teaching for the past eight years. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Brown of Reseburg, and a prosperous young farmer of that town. Both are well and favorably known and have a host of friends, who join in wishing them a long and prosperous married life.

The farm residence of Matt Story, south of here, took fire in the roof about six o'clock Saturday night. Mrs. Story was in the barn doing chores at the time, and had not the fire been discovered and extinguished by W. H. Bowie's logging crew, the building and its contents would probably have been destroyed.

We learn just before mailing our letter, that Chris Holverson and John Evenson have gone to Valley City, N. D. Also, that Arthur Baker of Loyal, was in the village Saturday.
