----- Cole, Leda (? - 27 JUL 1911)

Mrs. Leda Ormsby Cole, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Ormsby, of near Alma Center, who has been a patient sufferer for a a long time from Bright's disease, died at the home of her parents at one o'clock Thursday morning, July 27, 1911, aged 80 years, 8 months and 12 days. She was married to Willard Cole of Humbird, July 12, 1905, with whom she lived very happily till the messenger of death came and took her from our midst. Soon after their marriage they resided in Humbird, Clark County, Wis., and later went to Ettrick, where Mr. Cole had a barber shop. When her health began to fail they returned to Alma Center.

She had a kind and loving word for everyone, not from the lips alone, but from the heart. The tears that mingle with her dust, attest, as nothing else could that she was a true friend and neighbor, with a smile for a welcome and a happy good-bye for a parting. Her married life was a continual song. She was a friend to those in need, ready at all times to help as long as her health and strength would permit. To her parents and brothers she was an obedient child and a loving sister, and to her husband a faithful and true wife.

During her long illness she was always hopeful and cheerful and thought that the untiring efforts and devotion of her parents and husband would be availing, but although all that human skill could devise was done, she faded gradually like a beautiful flower. The immense concourse who sadly followed her to the last resting place in the bosom of earth, while the clouds of the valley hovered overhead, was a witness of the esteem in which she was held by all.

In all the years of her life, no unkind word has ever been spoken of her. Why one so pure, so noble, should be taken, is not for mortal man to know. It is the mysterious will of God. She leaves to mourn, her parents, two brothers and a husband, besides a host of relatives and friens.

The funeral services were held at the Ormsby residence at 2 o'clock Saturday, July 29, by Rev. A. D. Moore, assisted by the Rebecca Lodge in a very impressive manner. The floral tributes were many and beautiful, and in their sweet way, expressed their love for she who is gone and their hope of meeting beyond this vale of tears.
