The news of the sudden death of Mrs. P. M. Francis at Fairchild, Eau Claire Co., Wis. Monday evening, came as a great shock to her many friends here (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.). Mr. Francis had returned from his farm in Montana and was preparing to move his family there. They had spent part of the last week here making a farewell visit with friends and their daughter Miss Agnes had returned to Fairchild on the evening train Monday. Mrs. Francis met her daughter at the depot and soon after reaching home she was stricken, and while the physicians who were immediately summoned, exerted their utmost skill, they could do nothing further than relieve her sufferings until the spirit took its flight soon after midnight. The cause of her death was pronounced cerebral hemorrhage by Dr. Leavens and Frisbie, who were in attendance from early evening. Two of her sons, Charles and Leo, were in Montana and were sent for at once. The funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church this Friday forenoon.

Mrs. Francis, whose maiden name was Augusta Bonnot, was born in Belfort, N.Y., in August 1866. At the age of eleven years she was bereft of her mother, and was called upon to take a mother's place in the household. Soon after the family came to Wisconsin, and in 1884 she became the wife of Mr. Francis. Their home was made at Humbird and Neillsville, and then returning to Humbird, residing here until Mr. Francis sold his business about five years ago and went west to prepare a new home. Mrs. Francis went to Fairchild to live until such time as the new home in Montana was ready. They were in the midst of preparations to removed there when her final summons came.

There are left to mourn her sudden taking away, a husband and four children, Alfred, Charles, Agnes and Leo; one sister, Mrs. Henley of Mondovi; and two brothers, John and Charles Bonnot of Fairchild. This community, in which the family is so well and favorably known, unites in expressing its sympathy to the husband and children in their hour of affliction.

For a number of year Mrs. Francis had been an interest member of the Royal Neighbors. She was a woman who formed lasting friends.
