Johnson, Anne A. (23 OCT 1896 - 3 MAR 1987)

Colby, Wis. - Former Colby resident, Anne A. Johnson, 90, resident of the Marshfield Living Center, died at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital, where she had been admitted Feb. 25.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby, with the Rev. Robert J. Wagner officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Thursday at Rux Funeral Home, Colby, where a prayer service and rosary will be at 8 p.m.

She was born Oct. 23, 1896, at Freedom to John and Catherine Schommer. She attended Freedom and Colby Catholic Schools and later worked as a bookkeeper at the Colby Clinic.

She was married to Carl H. Johnson, June 26, 1919 at Colby and they farmed in the Unity and Abbotsford areas. In 1939, they formed the Johnson Silo and Lumber Co. of Colby, which they operated until retiring in 1964. Her husband died Dec. 3, 1972. She had been a resident of the Living Center since Jan. 1981.

She was a member of St. Mary's Church, and the Christian Mothers Society.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Elaine) Bushman Sr. of Marshfield and Mrs. Joseph (Doris) Orth of Lakeland, Fla.; two sons, Lorris (Louie) Johnson of Colby, and Carl Johnson Jr. of Charlotte, Vt.; a brother, Lambert Schommer of Marshfield; a sister, Josephine Olson of Burbonnais, Ill.; 29 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Mrs. Anthony (Lenore) Switlick, four brothers and two sisters.
