Nedry, Dr. Henry M. (26 APR 1854 - 3 MAY 1923)

Dr. H. M. Nedry, one of the first doctors of Dorchester, Clark County country, died at his home in Norwalk, Ohio, May 3, 1923, aged 69 years and 1 week.

He was brought to Dorchester Monday, May 7, and laid at state in the Little White Church, in which the Nedry family worshipped in days gone by, and Tuesday afternoon, May 8th, at 2:30 the funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. G. Sibson of Mondovi and Rev. Marks, pastor of the church, and Medford friends rendered several fine selections and interment took place at the cemetery south of town, Doctors F. Foley, H. Christopherson of Colby, Ray Nystrum, Dietrich and Elvis of Medford, acting as pallbearers.

Dr. Nedry was born at Melmor, Ohio, April 26, 1854, and after he had finished the home school attended Normal and taught school several years. Then he went to the Western Reserve College at Cleveland and graduated from the medical course and shortly after or about forty years ago he came to Dorchester and located.

He married Miss Minnie Brown of Unity, and several years after her death, about twenty years ago, he was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Rosin of Colby.

They continued to reside in Dorchester until 1910 when they went to Kansas on account of the Doctor's poor health. They were there about two years and then returned and bought the late Dr. Miller's practice in Medford.

About four years ago Doctor Nedry's health necessitated his selling and they moved to Ohio, where he purchased a 110 acre farm 13 miles from the city of Norwalk.

They resided there until this spring, but the Doctor grew lonely so far away from town life and so he purchased a 36 acre farm just outside the city limits, but with the trolley going by so that they could reach the heart of the city in few minutes ride.

Comfortable and happy, they were settled and enjoying their new home when death called and he must go.

Dorchester people sympathize much with the bereaved ones for they remember many, many kindnesses and how he was ever ready to minister to the sick not matter what the weather, or the roads, in fact, no obstacle was too great for Dr. Nedry to surmount when a call came from someone ill.

Besides his wife, ten children mourn his loss, seven of who were here for the funeral, Drs. Galen and Clive, Rusk, Maurice, Helen, Robert and Claudius, and three who were unable to arrive in time, Mattie, Earl and Henry.

Family Note--Wilhemina (Minnie) Rosin was the eldest of eight children of Mary Anna and Carl Ernest Rosin. They lived in Colby, Wisconsin. Wilhemina taught school for thirteen and one/half years before marrying Dr. Nedry. Mary Anna was the second of seven children of John George and Susan Schairl Miller (Mueller). They lived in Lowell, Dodge County, Wisconsin. Both John George and Susan were born in Bavaria, Germany.
